For the lower school rugby teams, there was huge success against King Edward’s School, Birmingham; the U13A team won 35-15 and the U13B team won 40-5. Whilst there were wins for the U12 teams against Charlton School on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, on Saturday it was a tough day against Northampton School for Boys. Despite some close fought games there were several losses but a draw for the U16A team, 19-19. On Wednesday, the 2nd XV were defeated by Welbeck DSFC who brought their 1st XV to face our unbeaten team. The boys fought back in the second half with tries from King-Jerry Adu, Rohan Bassi and one off the base of the scrum by James Rogers and Cameron Longmore but with the final score at 20-29 it wasn’t quite enough.
Over on the hockey pitch, the U18A team beat King Edward’s Birmingham 2-1 and on Wednesday the U18B team beat Princethorpe College, 5-0. There were spectacular goals from Tom Hughes and Jay Mittal with Sid Khanna scoring a phenomenal hat trick.
However, team of the week must be the U16A hockey team, with an 11-1 win over Marlborough College! A fantastic victory showing the boys’ hard work and dedication over the past few weeks. Congratulations to them and their coaches.
Next week the senior rugby teams play King Edward’s School Birmingham and Shrewsbury, the netball teams face Denstone College away and our hockey teams are in action against Princethorpe College.
