Sports Report week commencing 16th January
An epic for sport here at Bishop Vesey's
1st XV in action on Saturday
On the hockey pitches there have been wins for both U13 teams, both ensuring their opponents remained pointless. The U12B team beat Princethorpe College 4-1 and on Wednesday, the 3rd XI played Solihull Girls School U18A, with a final score of 3-1.
The netball teams travelled to King Edward's VI Stratford this week and whilst neither team secured a win, they were the closest fought matches of the season, proving that all the hard work at the Monday and Wednesday training sessions is really paying off. We wish all the girls in the first team the best of luck this weekend as they compete at Regionals.
The rugby teams have not disappointed this week; 9 out of 15 games were won. On Friday and Saturday, despite the frosty conditions all teams turned out against Old Swinford Hospital. There were wins from the U12B, U12C, U14A and U15B teams. The U15B team were on a roll this week, also beating Bishop Walsh U15A on Monday 24-10.
On Saturday the 2nd XV thrashed their opponents 42-5, with one try disallowed. It was an excellent performance from all involved, in particular Omar Syed who scored two tries in quick succession.
Back in action on Wednesday the 2nd XV beat King Edward's Camp Hill 41-0. There were tries from Ben Wall, Upraaj Bains, Stevie Davie, James Rogers, Jai Singh and after a spectacular chase from inside his own 22, Charlie Giblin. This win means they are the top U18B team in the country. Congratulations to all the squad and their coach Mr Greenwood, a full match report will follow in this half term's Veseyan.
At the same time the 1st XV also beat King Edward's Camp Hill 34-0. It was a real team effort with some expansive play especially in the second half. Try scorers were Jack Moore, Kairo Dodd, Alex Garton, Aidan Towse, Matthew Hurley and Olly Curwen.
Next week, the remaining rugby teams face King Edward's Camp Hill and the senior hockey teams are up against King Edward's VI Five Ways.
