Landing the lead role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s exhilarating skating spectacle Starlight Express for his professional debut has been nothing short of a whirlwind journey for Jeevan Braich. His performance as Rusty was so electrifying that it earned him the prestigious Best Performer in a Musical award at the 2024 Stage Debut Awards. Reflecting on his achievement, Jeevan expressed his astonishment, saying the award "blows [his] mind," but he humbly dedicated it to his fellow debut performers in the cast.

Jeevan’s path to theatre was anything but conventional. Initially trained in classical singing and opera, he had always harboured a love for pop and musical theatre. However, it wasn’t until he began posting song covers on TikTok, that an unexpected opportunity arose. One of his videos caught the attention of a casting director, who reached out with an audition offer for a major theatre production. Without hesitation, Jeevan took the leap - and the rest is history.

His journey stands as a testament to the power of self-belief and seizing opportunities. “That’s why I always say to people, ‘Put yourself out there,’ because you miss 100 per cent of the opportunities you don’t take,” he advises aspiring performers.

Jeevan very kindly returned to Bishop Vesey's last year to give an inspiring assembly and workshop to our current pupils. He shared his experiences and encouraged pupils to pursue their passions. With a dazzling debut already under his belt, there’s no doubt that Jeevan Braich’s star is only just beginning to rise. We can't wait to see where his journey takes him next!
