Last week, all our rugby teams recorded a win against King Edward VI’s Camp Hill. Special mentions for the U12C team who won 18-0 and U13 team who beat their opponents 30-0.
For our hockey teams it has also been an exciting week, the U13A team thrashed Princethorpe College 6-0 in their fourth consecutive win of the season. Meanwhile, our 1st XI played Rugby School in their first round of England Hockey’s National Cup. Led by Benjamin Ellis the boys played excellently winning 2-0 thanks to two superb goals from Matthew Freer.
On Sunday, despite the early start and the dreary weather conditions, the first netball team attended Regionals. They began well, beating Newport Grammar School 9-8, before losing to Hereford and Rugby. Their final match was a close loss to the overall group winners. Congratulations to all the girls involved, especially Aine Ray who stepped in as a last-minute replacement, Olivia Powell who made her debut as GS and the team’s captain, Neve Parkes.
The Vesey Vultures also secured their first win over Welbeck DSFC this week. The girls, led by captain Georgia Lane, started off slowly but ensured their set pieces were strong. As they got into the game, they were able to play more expansively, and winger Amy Lowe ran rampant with the ball. She scored three tries and kicked the conversion, with the final score 17-5. A superb first win this season for our girl’s rugby team.
Next week the lower school hockey sevens’ teams are in action against Solihull School, whilst on Saturday all our rugby teams play Northampton School for Boys.
