Members of the Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School (BVGS) Corporate Partnership enjoyed a day of golf and networking on Friday 8th June, as the school hosted its third annual Golf Day.

Competing in teams of four, the group of 92 guests had the opportunity to play 18 holes at the beautiful Walmley Golf Club, with the five best teams awarded prizes at the end of the day.

Sponsored by X2 Furniture, the event also featured smaller challenges at specific holes, where guests could win cash prizes for ‘beating the pro’ or achieving the longest drive of the day.

After guests had finished their round, they were treated to a hot buffet and refreshments back inside the clubhouse, before the partner-sponsored raffle was drawn.

Partnership members once again showed their support for the school by offering sponsorship for the individual holes or donating prizes to the golf competition and raffle.

Currently boasting some 35 members, the Corporate Partnership has enjoyed plenty of growth in recent times, building a networking community of local businesses while supporting the school and its students.

John Shakespeare, Secretary at Walmley Golf Club, commented: “The Bishop Vesey’s Golf Day is always a key event in our calendar, as it allows us to showcase the fantastic facilities we have to offer, while networking with other important local businesses.

“We have hosted several other networking events at the Golf Club in the past and our close relationship with the school and its staff has allowed us to continue putting on such events.

“Guests love playing around our historic, 18-hole parkland golf course, which offers a perfect balance and makes for a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all levels.

“More than just a Golf Club, we are a social community that aims to bring together individuals and businesses from across the local area, encouraging engagement within a relaxed environment.

“We’re looking forward to hosting next year’s Golf Day and working closely with the school and Corporate Partnership in the near future.”
Brian Davies, Development Director at Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School said: “The annual golf day gives partners and other local businesses the opportunity to network in a much more relaxed and informal setting.

“Having developed a close relationship with Walmley Golf Club over the years, we have been able to host a number of our events using the facilities on offer, which never fail to impress our guests.

“The Golf Club always do a fantastic job of entertaining our partners and they are happy to go the extra mile when it comes to providing food and refreshments for the event.

“We’d like to thank Walmley Golf Club for their support this time round, as well as our partners and guests for supporting the Golf Day – offering sponsorships and donations for the day’s events. Over £5,000 was raised from the day, which will allow further improvements to be made to the quality and quantity of sports provision for our students.

“We’re looking forward to seeing members at the next partnership networking event and at next year’s Golf Day.”
