Following the supreme organisation of Sheila Randon and John Whittaker another successful gathering of some thirty Old Veseyans took place in the delightful gardens of Peter and Sheila Randons’ Streetly home.

The day had started with a tour of the school and of the facilities at the Veseyan Rugby Club on the Memorial Ground in Little Hardwick Road.

In the afternoon, the company was augmented by the presence of John Craggs (Chairman of Governors), Dominic Robson (Head Teacher and President of the OVA) and the joint school captains, Sophie Lloyd and William Hennessey together with Matt Price Deputy School Captain. Michael Billington attended from South Africa; his first visit in 60 years!

The weather was perfect with a light breeze sunny intervals and above all dry.

As ever, Sheila and her three helpers put on a fine spread of cakes and goodies and of course, the all important seemingly inexhaustible supply of tea.

Mr. Tom Wilson was our most senior Old Veseyan present who attended the school from 1929 until 1939.

Chairman, Paul Wallis, called the company to order and thanked all those responsible for arranging and organising the various elements of the day which had included a tour of the School and of the facilities at the Veseyan Rugby Club at the Little Hardwick Road Memorial Ground.

Organiser of the Shaggy Dogs, John Whittaker then announced the apologies he had received from various Old Veseyans together with various tributes received. Notable absentees included John Whitworth of Harrogate, Gordon Brodie, Brian Roberts, Graham Cooper and Harry Leigh-Dugmore.

All in all another successful gathering and opportunity to maintain those all important friendships.
