PLANit Global is an innovative online careers exploration platform that is radically different to anything else currently available that engages young people with local businesses, inspiring them to create their own well-informed career paths. PLANit Global is a
24/7 digital careers fair that allows young people to explore local companies and learn about how they work, what they do, who works for them and how they can join them.
We are very keen to have as many different types of companies, sizes and job roles on our platform. We want to inspire young people and help them to know about all the different opportunities available to them locally i.e. volunteering, work experience, apprenticeships. We need help from local companies to populate the site and showcase their business to make it beneficial for the young people using the platform.
Our target audiences are young people from age
12/13 to 30: people returning to the work place, people facing barriers to employment and people seeking employment. Our main audiences come from schools, colleges and Universities. Our clients are businesses of all sizes and from all sectors.
We recently launched to schools with a platform that is accessible on phones and tablets and that is able to be viewed on schools’ computers. We discovered that because the site is built using Unity, the 3D gaming programme, many schools’ systems won’t allow access. When you go to the home page from your laptop now you will see two options to choose the 3D Galaxy or the 2D Infoverse. The 2D version is accessible on mobiles/tablets etc. Both versions draw on the same business information.
We have 50 schools now engaged and promoting usage to their students. If all their students were registered we would have a potential audience of c35,000 students plus teachers and parents. We have 50 businesses currently profiled on the PLANits which still look a little sparse as each sector can accommodate 102 businesses. However, we are bigger and more diverse than most careers fairs’ a young person would attend. Notable businesses include the City of Wolverhampton, Wolverhampton FC, WSP, West Midlands Pension Fund, Paycare, The Grand Theatre and Ashe and Lacy to name a few. Our plans are to introduce a platform in each LEP area so naturally have started in the Black country and Greater Birmingham and will grow organically going forward.
We hold monthly info sessions for businesses here at our offices which you are welcome to attend or we could arrange a virtual session is you wished at some stage. Our next will be on the 23
rd June at our offices 10.00-11.00 a.m.
