Netball
Facing a gruelling schedule, and cold, wet conditions, the Bishop Vesey's Grammar School squad played six tough group games, a semi-final and a final, in the regional netball championships at Bromsgrove School on 29 January. They got off to an excellent start, beating Bromsgrove School (10-8) and Tudor Grange (15-5). Two further wins followed, including an 18-8 victory over King Edward VI School Lichfield. Then came a defeat to Wrekin College in their fifth game. This meant that Vesey had to win their final group game against Hereford Cathedral School in order to qualify for the semi-finals as the best runner-up, which they did!  They then played, and beat, the winners of the other group, George Salter Academy, in a tense semi-final. The final was a 'rematch' with Wrekin College, who had beaten them earlier in the day.  Wrekin are coached by Laura Jones, a former BVGS member of staff.  Vesey won the final 13-9, with both finalists qualifying for the national finals. This is the second consecutive year that the squad have become regional champions, and the third year running that they have qualified for the national finals.
