STUDENTS at Bishop Vesey's Grammar School were all smiles as they celebrated their results with parents and staff.
Overall, 80 per cent of entries were graded at A* to B with a 100 per cent pass rate. There were many fantastic individual performances. Congratulations went to Molly Willars whose four A* grades won her a place to study mathematics at Oxford University.
In total, seven students scooped the grades they needed for their Oxbridge places, including Rory Gaskin (law and French, Oxford University), William McCreery (earth sciences, Oxford University), Josiah McNeill (fine art, Oxford University), Jemima Richardson-Jones (geography and a choral scholarship, Oxford University), Jake Robinson (economics and management, Oxford University) and Sophia Thorn (natural sciences, Cambridge University).
There were also a further six students with three A* grades, including Dhruv Kaul (philosophy and economics, London School of Economics), Sofia Kaur (economics, University College, London), Tommy Powell (mathematics and economics, Warwick University), Mustafa Qureshi (mathematics, Warwick University), Omair Quyyam (aeronautical engineering, Imperial College, London) and Ellen Steward (chemistry, Nottingham University).
Headteacher Dominic Robson said: "This year group has risen to the challenge of the new tougher linear A-levels. They have been an inspirational cohort of young people to work with, both inside and outside of the classroom. "Importantly, they have certainly made the most of all the opportunities the 'Vesey Experience' provides.
From academic trips to Iceland and cultural and sporting experiences in South America, to outstanding performances on the stage, at the concert hall and on the sports fields, as well as raising money for charity and launching weather balloons into near space, our students have excelled. I am very proud of them all.
